Look at offmychest. You get banned for POSTING in a certain sub.
Quarantine is not a ban. It's a "let's consider a ban," warning.
I've seen "paticipation in hate subs is grounds for a ban"
Banning is meaningless anyway, as its trivial to create another account
It's actually against Reddit's policies, but the admins threw that out of the window anyway.
Punishing people in one sub for what they did in another ?
Yeah. It's against Reddit's official policies to ban users for posting in a sub.
The admins don't give a fuck so it means nothing.
AgainstHateSubreddits is a hate subreddit, but it has the same agenda as the admins so it's also unbannable.
I'm never surprised when centralised pwer is abused
You gotta decentralise in the first place
Hey, goldfish, if you're still here, whatever happened to your Reddit account. I heard you talk about it a while ago. But I don't think anyone asked why the admins killed it.
Admins of a site acting badly is about as surprising as a dictator acting badly.
Did the admins just nuke it from orbit? They've done that before.
Usually they suspend now.

They refuse to log him in, if you try to log in as go1dfish the error message is different from the rest, or so it was about half a year when another nabber looked at his account
On injecting global policy into people's listing source: it may already work that way, but please display it as two separate listing sources, I don't want user actions to be mixed up with admin ones

Can we please go back to making the front page /allby x0x7in whatever
As far as alt-right goes they just post to whatever. 3/4s of the content is political, and so of course they are going to get some share of it.
The problem is if alt-rights get 1/20th the say on a site and there is one alt-right post then people on the left will think the whole site is alt-right, despite it being majorly not so. They have been coddled into thinking they should only get 100% of the say. This is why the have labeled several liberal internet talking heads "the intellectual dark web"/alt-right like joe rogan.
They are going to think this site is alt-right no matter whats on it unless it exactly mirrors reddit anyway.
What if you black listed subs from the front page instead. You've in essence done that but also blacklisted reasonable topics as well with them. While the more extreme side of me would still say that's not content neutrality it is technically less censorship.
Can we please go back to making the front page /all (self.whatever)

On the General Architecture of the Peer Webin technology
[–]x0x7+2 -0 points 3 weeks ago
Something I've noticed while using my own JSos service to make apps (which is a serverless front end oriented way to make peer-2-peer applications) is that some problems are really hard without centralization.
What end up happening is you just make one user do something the others don't have to do.. which is all a web server is, from a tcp context.
So for example first I made a way for peer to use the back end to discover each other to communicate via webrtc. That required some centralization to do peer discovery, but the peers are communicating in a distributed way.
Then I wanted to make a chat application. I ended up implementing a relay using webrtc to act as a central hub of a room.
That was an example of centralization. I ended up taking something meant to do distributed communication (webrtc) and utilized it toward centralization. Not unlike tcp->http. So it goes tcp->http->webrtc->my chat room server, in an oscillation of distributed to not distributed.
I've since distributed it with the backend itself acting as a more generic relay over websockets.
The thing is distributed solutions are meant to bring freedom to peers. But the ultimate freedom is to be able to do unique things on your peer. At which point each people is able to have unique capabilities in a network of peers with different roles... which is centralization.
So the only way to completely shut down centralization is to remove the freedom of peers. To do that you need one copy of software distributed from a single place... otherwise known as centralization.
The web as it exists now is as decentralized as it's going to get. We have access to direct peer to peer communication and the ability to run custom code with low cost of entry systems that run persistently. It couldn't get better.

For some salt is a way of life
The Democrats make victims out of black people to hold them down so they vote Democrat and blame scapegoatsby Chungusin whatever
Then why are white people ahead? If politics really has so much impact on our personal trajectories then the people who elected republicans as their leaders getting ahead would be a testament for republicans.
That or politics has very little to do with where your life ends up and the kind of people who vote for smaller government are the kind of people relying on other more effective solutions to organize their success.
[–]x0x7+4 -0 points 3 weeks ago
A lot of the people who talk about working together are just using platitudes to get into positions to screw people over.
Your very sentence illustrates an example of how people think they just need politicians that talk about the right things. It's sad.
"I like this politician because he talks about..." Well who cares. He's just repeating what a poll told him to say. Politics isn't the solution at all. It's individuals organizing their lives one improvement at a time. That's the only thing that works.
