Don't believe this crap, Instagram and whatsapp are going very well and they are expanding. They want you to ditch facebook and use one of these two in your mobile phone. This way you are hooked to the facebook company more than ever and you can only chat with your friends or follow some rich millionaires, no more political news if your feed.

Truly, you'd be stupid to want to "ditch" Facebook for the ethical concerns listed in the article only to run right into the arms of WhatsApp or Instagram.
They are playing mind games with us. Seeing how we will react. Gaining intel on us.

Ultimately, the only way out of it is to stop using these centralized, data-mining social media services altogether. The only reason they have value is because of networking effects and the inertia of their user base. There are numerous alternative social media networks that offer equivalent or better functionality compared to the mainstream services. Many of these alternatives are even open source and decentralized, like NAB.
If you hate the practices of big tech companies, then the best thing you can do is to stop adding to their value by depending on them for your communications.
