Humanity has wiped out 60% of animal populations since 1970, report findsin science

I blame the junk food industry. Most littering in the streets that I've seen is related to some high-carb low-nutrition snack food.

We've also been getting fatter and fatter since the 1970s, too. Perhaps there's a connection?

Darker Skin is Stronger Skin, Says New View of Human Skin Colorin science

          [] -0 points

The problem with this theory is that it requires you to believe that significant amounts of prehistoric people actually died or failed to reproduce because the “metabolic burden” of producing skin a tiny bit darker killed them, while allowing others with skintones a tiny bit lighter to survive.

The missing piece of how white people became white is simply plain old sexual selection. Primitive people saw traits like blue eyes or lighter skin as more sexually desirable than dark skin or brown eyes. We know this is true for blonde hair because it was typically associated with youth. Lighter skin similarly showed age and health indicators more clearly, and thus became more attractive over time.

Yeah. It's funny because they dismiss other theories on the basis that "they wouldn't have a significant effect". Well neither would that.

It's clear that any skin color change would require some significant advantage, even if unique to that area or the events happening right there.

Another theory one could adopt is group selection theory. That is different people migrated from different areas with different skin tone. They would have had other differences including cultural and cognitive. People would want to mate with those associated with positive traits and the easiest to see would be skin tone. The race with the positive signal would survive and only remnants of the prior race would exist in their dna. With sexual selection extremes are attractive so the sexual selection could not only select the more advanced race but could also select those within that race with more signaling attributes.

Ok. It's not really rectangular. One side doesn't conform at all. Looking at it's neighbors if you asked me to guess if any have two sides that are roughly parallel and three sides being flat I would say, yeah, that's really likely. About half of all the sides of it's neighbors are flat, and most of the sides twice adjacent to each other are roughly the same angle. All you need is a few to get that roughly same angle really close.

Of course maybe I'm wrong and this is significant. Maybe the act of witnessing it will transform humanity toward it's next stage.
