This is copied from open source reddit's markup a while back.

Looking at live reddit, they seem to use nofollow for the comment links but not submission links which seems like the opposite of what you would want to do.

Shouldn't be hard to change this for submitted links; links in comments will be a bit more difficult at the moment.

See the link in my other comment, they remove nofollow for submitted links starting from some amount of upvotes (5-15). But here spammer can upvote himself, so the same solution is questionable (or not?)

K rel=nofollow should be applied to all non-self links and links in markdown as well now.

LOL, I googled for how this is handled on reddit:

Upvotes after a certain amount make the link dofollow (which deters spam). The exact amount is not known however.
