yeah, also I need to see when/where things fail so they can be improved
that's a fair point, I do have a limited scope though, reddit itself isn't that complicated and the activity sort is the last I plan to touch the indexer side of things for a while
unless things fall over
the move of space filtering back to the UI did a lot to focus/minimize the work the indexer has to do
while also making the development of space moderation features easier to develop as a result
FPG says he has his indexer working on his phone, which probably wouldn't be possible if it was expected to do all the stuff it used to do for space filtering

looking forward to that thing, I wonder how many of nab's indexer features it has implemented
well current nab indexer has very few features itself
but the model still allows for the indexer to filter as much as it wants
both the indexer and tabulator operate as trusted black boxes identified by public keys
the reference implementation just tabulates and indexes content that is all public and thus verifiable through replication

is this site a honeypot? if not is there the possibility of a middle man recording all ips? (self.notabug)

just a question
Better support for participating without it may come in the future.

Yes, everything goes through cloudflare
[–]go1dfish+2 -0 points 3 months ago
This is correct, as a result my machine doesn’t even see your real ips.
My server is configured to not log ips as well.

Why do you use Cloudflare?
It's convenient, (good tools for dns management and such) and it reduces the PI that I am managing or have access to (since my server doesn't even see your real IPs with this setup), as well as acting as a potential layer of DDoS protection.
It also played nicer with the archive sites than when I was hosting directly.
It's not really necessary in any way to make things work; but it does make development more convenient and I don't see it as having any significant downsides.

Does anyone know what cloudflare does with their copy?
[–]jtriangle+3 -0 points 3 months ago
They keep logs and follow US laws. If you want to browse this site without being tracked and/or snooped on use a VPN or TOR

You mean any site.

Oh no! Not my IP!?! Whatever will I do? /s
People need to stop thinking this is a bad thing. Participate on the net as a true equal. Stop using other's services at their whim. Take ownership of your IP and host things from home as well as using p2p services.
That said, fuck cloudflare.

You shouldn't consider your IP address to be private information.
