Lentels and chickpeas. Staples of India for a reason. You can make chickpeas into chickpea flower and use it in a lot of ways. You are then supplementing everything else you eat with cheap protein.

Ground lentles in every sauce you could make. That makes it a chutney. Protein is the most expensive aspect of food. You need less of the expensive proteins if even your barbecue sauce has protein in it.

That's why Indians don't waste any opportunity to get chickpea or lentel into everything they possibly can.

I vote potatoes as well. Boil 'em, mash 'em, put 'em in a stew. They even have a banana equivalent dose of antimatter. In the USA at least they are extremely cheap for mass and have most of what you need to survive.

just don't let the potatoes collide with regular matter, unless you want to go to warp speed

I know of soup kitchens and food banks, and thank you for bringing them up, but i was thinking of cost including what others pay.

and spuds. If you're gonna grow your own food, the most practical way to get the calories is root vegetables (taro, sweet potato, potato, etc., depending on your climatic zone). You're not gonna get your calories growing grain crops.

But protein matters more. Lentel and eggs are the cheapest. Then whey powder.

Then you can drink vegetable oil for all I care.

Cheapest way to get protein is cannibalism, or this'll convert 2kg of scraps into 1kg of meaty stuff.

Freegans take prematurely binned food from the back of restaurants and supermarkets. Bit risky. Questionably legal.

Amazing just after Easter

I like Maruchan Ramen as a cheap 350 calorie meal. Since it has no fiber, I'll add a heaping tablespoon of Dextrin, then cook it normally. Picante Chicken is so damn delicious at only 19 cents per serving at Walmart.

Self-cannibalism I suspect.
